Aston Martin DB9 Volante Report. Swamp People . Aston Martin DB9 Volante The convertible version of the DB9 shares its underpinnings with the coupe (see Sports and GT Cars), namely Aston’s flexible new platform-known internally as VH, for “vertical horizontal”-which is designed to provide a favorable 50/50 weight distribution. As in the coupe, the convertible uses a 444-hp V-12 and a ZF six-speed automatic. Earthquake .

The body and chassis are a high-tech mix of extruded, stamped, and die-cast parts. The front fenders and hood are composite, but the rest of the exterior skin is aluminum. The interior is comfortable with ample adjustment for the deep buckets and lovely leather steering wheel. The DB9 has a somewhat firm ride but it more than compensates the driver with terrific control and agility.
