Acer Liquid Metal Android Smartphone

Coming more as an official confirmation as opposed to an actual announcement, Acer has officially unveiled the Liquid Metal smartphone this morning. The Liquid Metal will be heading to the UK and is set to arrive sometime in mid-November and then again in early-December.

The specs as well as the news of a new user interface and new app that will be included. First, the specs. The Liquid Metal will feature a 3.6 inch touchscreen display, an 800MHz Qualcomm MSM7230 processor, 14.4Mbps HSDPA, Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n and a 5 megapixel camera with auto-focus, image stabilization, face recognition, dual LED flash and 720p video recording.

Other goodies include Android 2.2 Froyo, Dolby Surround and DLNA/UPnP media streaming. Moving on to the new user interface and app. The user interface has been dubbed as Breeze and is described as having been “developed to manage applications even more easily.” In reality that seems to mean that the Liquid Metal will offer the ability to see information at a glance even when the screen is locked. Other perks of the Breeze user interface include the ability to view your application history, quickly launch recently and frequently used apps and customize your homescreen. Moving onto the new app, which is called SocialJogger. And while it sounds like it should be something for a runner this really just takes your Twitter and Facebook streams and rolls them into one.

And lastly, for anyone that is not overjoyed with the specs, the description of the phone itself does make it sound like something that will be nice to hold and to look at.

“The materials selected, like the stainless steel of the battery cover, are solid and resistant and the chrome trims give a sense of high quality for extreme tactile and visual pleasure. As in the entire Acer Liquid series, we find the LED signals on the upper part of the telephone notify the user of missed calls, the need to charge the battery, and new incoming messages clearly.”
