Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570

Those who liked the Samsung Galaxy S series but did not like the sometimes huge screens now have a choice. Samsung is making a Mini and calling it the same. Read on to find out more on the Samsung Galaxy Mini here in this quick article.

The pocket is important for the word “mobile”, and Samsung shows they know it. They are downsizing their Galaxy Series, the one that is being sold across all the major carriers in the United States. The full name of the Mini is “Samsung Galaxy Mini S5570″. It is 4.34 inches tall by 2.4 inches wide by .47 inch thick. For those outside of the United States, that is 110.4 millimeters tall by 60.8 millimeters wide by 12.1 millimeters thick. It goes into a pocket or purse with no problems. It comes back out with no problems, thanks to the rounded corners.

The Midget Mini from Samsung comes with a boring screen. It is not a great follower of its larger cousins when it comes to screen clarity. The resolution is a low 240 by 320 pixels. This may be an inexpensive smartphone, but surely Samsung could have done better. The size of the screen is 3.14 inch. It does have an accelerometer, proximity sensor and swype text input method. There is no manual keyboard and the user interface is a Samsung specialty; TouchWiz. This one is version 3.0.

Runing the Samsung Galaxy Mini smartphone is a peppy processor. It is running at 600 megahertz. It keeps the Mini from suffering from latency while in use. The memory accompanying the chip is a tiny 160 megabytes. That is augmented by a MicroSD card slot that can add up to 32 gigabytes of extra storage. A two gigabyte flash card is included. Other hardware includes a camera. It is a 3.15 megapixels photo snapper and does not have flash. It takes video at 15 frames per second. There is no secondary camera.

Wireless hookups look very good for the Samsung Galaxy Mini smartphone. It has Wi-Fi in all the modes, including “N”. There is also bluetooth, GPRS, EDGE, HSDPA and a FM Stereo radio thrown in to boot. The smartphone can not record off of the Stereo radio. The wired hookups are the 3.5 millimeter head phone jack and a MicroUSB port. The talk networks are covered by GSM in 850, 900, 1800 and 1900 megahertz bands. The 3G ( HSDPA ) talk networks are in only two bands; 900 and 2100.

The Samsung Galaxy Mini smartphone has plenty of social networking built in. It has Google talk, Youtube, gmail and more. Since the mobile operating system is the free Android Froyo, it will be able to download apps from the Android marketplace. There is plenty of other software to be able to edit photos, listen to music, edit documents and know which way you are going ( digital compass ). The battery has 1200 mAh of power, which is slightly above average. The handset is manufactured in black with colored accents running down the sides in typical Samsung color schemes. The price is estimated to be around $200 dollars.
